תעודת כשרות לחנות באינטרנט

With Black Thursday and Cyber Monday approaching, online retailers are racking their brain to figure out not just how to get visitors of their site to go to the ‘shopping cart’, but also how to get them to not disappear – to not change their minds, cancel their orders, waitt for better deals, etc. According to recent studies, the single most prominent factor driving consumers away from online purchasing is security fears. The internet is still very new and the paranoia is still very real – saying that shopping online is safer than in a store, a common cliché, just doesn’t hold much weight when it comes time to “put it on the card” electronically. That being said, the public is not stupid. Hackers are a genuine threat, perhaps not as bad as many think, but real none the less.

Tim Dowling, vice president of ’s Web Security Group had this to say:

“Online retailers need to understand that consumers with intent to purchase are terminating their orders because they don’t feel safe online. Our research suggests that economic concerns and price have not affected the way people shop online, but instead security concerns are the driving force behind whether a transaction is completed or terminated. All Web sites, regardless of size, need to take measures to prove to customers that their personal information will be safe and secure when doing business online.”

Half of consumers, who have ever purchased anything online, have cancelled their orders at one time or another, or abandoned their ‘shopping cart’, due to security fears. 63% of consumers will not buy from a Web site which does not display a worthy Trust Mark. So obviously the trick is, to get a Trust Mark that people know and well, trust.

Even if the Web site is well-known, if it does not have a strong security policy spelled out for consumers or a known Trust Mark, chances are that sales will be lost. So if this is the case with bigger sites, imagine how a smaller, less known site would do with no Trust Mark – not very well, you may reckon. So, new sites will want to have this feature.

Security is on the mind of 90% of online shoppers visiting unknown Web sites and 47% are specifically looking for a Trust Mark. Actually, one of the most interesting statistics that I have come across is that one-third of internet shoppers would rather buy from a smaller Web site with a Trust Mark than a larger e-tailer, without one.

Tim Dowling says:

“Our research shows that trustmarks begin to level the playing field for new and lesser known sites…For these sites, trustmarks like McAfee SECURE are necessary to build trust so customers will feel confident that their personal information is safe.”

Trust Marks which provide daily vulnerability scanning, like McAfee SECURE ™, turnout the highest level of protection – this is in comparison to reputation and SSL Trust Marks. Sites that have McAfee SECURE, see a 12% increase in sales and conversions. SECURE is used by more than 14,000 e-tailers.

In addition to daily vulnerability scanning, McAfee also does daily network perimeter scanning, testing for more than 10,000 network and Web application vulnerabilities, ensuring protection against malware. It is PCI compliant and provides for its users, business practice reviews.
