1. Are your offers up to date? Do you have a competition that has expired? Did your buy one get one free offer expire last week?
2. Are your contact details available? We recommend having a section that includes a contact phone number and a physical address, this helps reassure customers as they feel they have a good point of contact if anything goes wrong. We do not recommend having phone numbers displayed on your homepage as this may lead to leakage. This means the affiliate can potentially lose the sale if the customer decides to go make a purchase through a phone order rather than the online shopping cart.
3. How long does it take to reach the actual product page? If it takes more than 4 clicks to get to an item in their basket and start the check-out procedure people will begin leaving your store. Having a list of best sellers on the front page can help greatly here.
4. Point 3 also applies to categories with many pages of items, most people won’t look past the first page and less than 10% will go past the second page. Try to organize categories so nothing is hidden away.
5. The same theory also applies to forms. For leads merchants try to restrict the questions to those required to determine if the applicant is suitable for a call back, the shorter the form the more likely people are to fill it in. For commerce sites, only ask for the details you actually need in the checkout.
